Japan trip - Part 3

Day 5
Travelled to Kyoto by train and took the bus to the Sanjusangendo which is a temple famous for its 1001 statues of Kannon, the goddess of mercy.

View of the garden outside the main hall

More sakura

We were not allowed to take any photos of the statues in the mainhall so these are all I can from there =x

After that, took the bus to get to Kiyomizu Temple (清水寺) and had our lunch at a small cafe called Oggi on the way up

My omelette rice, yummy! =)

Beef salad for our set lunch

Hubby's beef stew rice, they really present their food very well..hehe

It was a pretty steep way up to the temple, with streets lined with souvenir shops..
finally at the entrance!! (check out my new woolen cap! =D)

Sakura taken from the top

Very impressive ya? (check out the crowd!)

Sakura hanging over the pond

After that made our way down to check out the souvenir shops..bought some accessories from the Kyoto glass shop and some of their local snacks back to eat..unable to buy back as souvenir coz they expire within the week >.<

Our dinner - crab feast at Dotonbori =D

Green tea ice-cream - nice!

The whole meal cost us SGD200 in total!..most expensive meal throughout the whole trip, but the food is worth it =)

Walked our way back via this street of shops after a very heavy dinner..haha =p

Day 6
Another early day coz we planned to go to the Himeiji Castle which is considered Japan's most beautiful surviving feudal castle, and it's a national treasure as well as a world heritage site.

It's really beautiful rite? =)

As it was the spring holidays, the place was crowded with pple..we gotta queue and wait for them to let us in by batches to prevent overcrowding in the area & in the castle.

People everywhere..

We joined the queue and took half an hour to get through the main entrance of the castle at the base and another half hour to get INTO the castle itself.. =_=

As we moved closer to the castle in the queue

Yeah, we are getting near!

Finally we are in!! View from the castle ^v^

Exhibits within the castle

We only went up to the 2nd level of the castle coz the staircase to the 3rd level was jam packed so we decided to give up..coz its getting too packed for us to bear liao =x

Took some photos instead..hehe =p

Walked around their Japanese-styled 'pasar malam' near the castle after getting out from there and had lunch at a curry restaurant.
